2,962 indigent Cabalens receive free Philhealth

Gov. Lilia ‘Nanay’ Pineda reminds the recipients of the members’ data record about the benefits of their Philhealth membership during the distribution held at Sta. Rita Covered Court.

GUAGUA – Some 2,962 indigent Cabalens from the towns of Guagua and Sta. Rita received free members data record from Gov. Lilia ‘Nanay’ Pineda and the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (Philhealth) yesterday.

The distribution held respectively at Sta. Rita Covered Court, Guagua Elementary School, and Natividad Covered Court aims to help the poorest of the poor by making sure that they can properly avail of the basic health services in rural health units and accredited government-run hospitals.

During the event, the governor stressed that illnesses can be prevented by seeking immediate medical attention for every family member.

She also reminded the beneficiaries that they will not pay a single centavo when seeking medical assistance from accredited government hospitals or facilities as they are covered by the “no balance billing policy.”

“When you feel ill and you need to undergo medication, approach your barangay health workers, barangay captains, nurses sa nayon, and even your mayors or you can go directly to the nearest district or provincial hospital,” said the governor.

Violeta Magpantay, one of the recipients from barangay San Pedro this town and a mother of a person with disability (PWD), expressed her joy and gratitude after receiving her MDR from the governor.

“I’m very happy because I need not worry about our medical needs especially one of my dependents is my daughter who is a PWD,” Magpantay said.

During the distribution, Gov. Pineda was joined by board members Anthony Joseph Torres, Salvador Dimson Jr and Fritzie David-Dizon, Mayor Ferdinand Salalila, Mayor Dante Torres, other local officials, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office led by Elizabeth Baybayan and Philhealth representatives.
